My aim with the service is to help people who wish to have a better life through changing the way they think. This does not mean every thought and clients will always have some choice as to what psychotherapeutic methods may be used. However, it is necessary to go through an initial consultation with me to determine what you need help with. People usually have some idea of immediate problems but sometimes there are underlying issues that block the path to the known problem. Understanding your lifestyle and the people around you is part of what is important to finding a solution. Here at Keynsham Hypnotherapy solutions are the main focus for many problems such as phobias. Some psychotherapies want to know the long history of problems, this is not considered very useful in some circumstances and here, with Solution Focused Brief Therapy, it is the path away from the problem that is important but at the same time being aware of a 'brief' history.

The benefits of Hypnotherapy are numerous. Many people find themselves stressed from physical illness or work and by not taking action early on, as with all health issues, then the problems get worse. Many people tell me that someone they know has never been ill and then suddenly that person is hospitalised or seeing a specialist. Part of a belief that someone has 'never been ill', is that recognition of, or denial of a problem is quite common. So, once recognised or accepted, having hypnotherapy to assist the mental blockages that build up can vastly benefit the sufferer, especially long term problems. This is done through the trance state when the mind is in a restful state and worries can't dominate. The benefits are only there fully if there is co-operation between the client and therapist about the way forward. This may involve the client filling in forms to log behaviour and generally using a relaxation CD to bring down their levels of anxiety. Over a period of time from 4 sessions up to 12 or more, the client will then either have improved completely or be starting to see the improvements, depending on the problem.
